A Gospel Truth
By Adedoyin Adebimpe
The tears and travails of the past are not meant to be forever, they don’t last
The fears of the future are unseen, so build the goodies of now like a mast
The bleeding of the heart is for the fortunate, it bleeds to show you’re human
Because evolving is what humans can
The spread of love is beautiful, so burn the fire of love
Think of piercing happiness through fleshes and flying like a dove…
The cane of pain aren’t vain so feel to peel but not flee
Because all these are what makes you real
So when you’re are down and you feel the world is gone
That you’re about to be done
Done with the beauty and ugliness of this world so you need some words
These words are here to remind you that you have survived and you are a king of Lords.
For you reign over all insecurities, travails, fears, and tears
And you shall continue to reign over them for years
These words are here to remind you that you are beautiful
You are amazing and should be called wonderful
You are brave and raving with awesomeness…
That you were not conditioned but born for happiness
Take these words as your truth and ruthlessly claim it
These words isn’t a pep talk but your birthright, swallow it
And pass it to the next person for they deserve to hear this gospel truth…
That a child is born for great things and that is the truth
Don’t look right or back or left because you are that child
Don’t think twice or doubt, it’s completely true and not mild
Because You should love you
And there’s no other deserving than you.
THE STARRY SUN
By Murtala “Zukk” Ahmed
You will be the adored big bad wolf.
The straw that strengthens the camel’s back.
The light that runs through the tunnel.
The beggar that wears the kingly crown.
You are the difference in indifference.
The brilliant owl that loves to see the sun.
The teacher that only teaches to learn.
The immortality that exists in a second.
You’d be the hate that’s nothing but unyielding love.
The pain that only exists to constantly please.
The math that seeks not to cause nor solve problems.
The tongue that’d rather speak sign language.
You’d be the one that stands alone as a multiple.
The crown that’s resting respectfully at every feet.
The majestic island that never stands alone.
The footprints found fondly jaywalking in the skies.
You’d be the enemy who shows enemies love.
The grandfather clock that knows no time.
You’d be the ever glowing greatness in mediocrity.
You’d be the last of firsts babe. You’d be the starry sun.
HOPE
By Kelli
The best gift of life is hope,
Hope never dies, hope never says never
Hope is forever… Hope will always conquer….
Hope never goes down under
Hope can stand any storm or weather.
Like Grey clouds, through the ashes
Come blue skies, with Phoenix rising
Its true Violets are blue, just like sad days are too
but hope comes once again to the rescue.
Diamonds are tough, a diamond in the rough But in no time your dreams shine through it all.
Hope gives you love, hope gives you trust.
Hope picks you up when things around you Become so stale you could hear a pin drop.
Trapped in your thoughts, nothing looks bright
But hope comes right through shedding new light.
Getting the fire burning inside u again To get you through the fight.
Life is about hope, a battle for who caves in or hangs on. To win you need hope, hope is all you need to hold on.
DUE RESPECT TO THE CLOCK
By Audu Usman
All due respect to the clock,
and courtesy.
As I struggle to shake the hands of time,
times without number,
am to pm.
For it just so seem,
like life has passed me by; full tanked.
As situation whines in mockery,
events slip and slap me in the face. I stop to reflect on the past,
trying to take it all backward,
the further back I went,
the further back I slip from reality,
that when I return to the present,
I find myself moved into an ‘old’ world,
dumbfounded,
life has passed me by,
only to remind me that life can only move clockwise.*_

I hope more poems will be added subsequently. Not a bad start and the site plus total blog looks great!
Absolutely, more poems will be added subsequently and Thank you very much for your commendation, Tobi.
Both pieces hit different… I love🙌
The first poem gave some rap vibe, nice work. Liked the second one too.
